Meet with representatives from local organizations who are looking for high school volunteers.
There are three requirements to graduate from an Ontario high school:
- 30 credits (including 18 compulsory credits and 12 elective credits)
- fulfilling the Literacy Requirement (by either passing the Literacy Test or, failing that, passing the Literacy Course (OLC4O1)
- 40 hours of volunteering in your community
Every year, the Guidance Department holds 2 Volunteer Fairs, one around the middle of November and another in the middle April. Representatives from local community organizations come to the fairs looking to sign up students for volunteering opportunities. The fairs are held during lunch in the front foyer of the school. Listen to the morning announcements and watch for flyers posted around the school during these times.
Organizations who are looking for high school volunteers and want to participate in our fairs and/or post a flyer on our Guidance Office Volunteer Board, should contact Ms. Dobbin: firstname.lastname@example.org
VOLUNTEER/JOB OPPORTUNITIES BULLETIN BOARD
There is a Volunteer and Job Opportunities bulletin board in the Guidance Office where students can find contact information about organizations looking for volunteers and workers.
Volunteer forms must be completed and signed by the person supervising your volunteering and also by your parent/guardian. Forms are available just inside the Guidance Office on your left as you enter. Completed forms should be submitted to the Guidance Secretary.
